«As your mind gently awakes to the sound of the morning buzzer, as you stretch your arms and clear your throat, a newborn day enters through the cracks of the window, paving the way for our conscious premonition of the future that is about to happen. This is the panorama for any ordinary day. This album opens with a soft voice whispering a wake-up call in your ear, but it quickly turns into a disturbing landscape, obliging you to open your eyes and acknowledge the fact that there is a life to carry through another day. The monotonous sound of routine reappears as you leave home, balancing through the streets and roads in a desperate hurry to get to nothing dissimilar to yesterday. It is life in all its extent that is expressed in the mindtripping sounds of Landfill’s first recording. The tone is definitely a post-rock one, with clear Barrett-esque influences, space-rock with its feet on the ground, contradictions and moodswinging atmospheres that allure you to reflection or abstraction, love and hate or everything else you might feel or not. Cowboys and factory workers dancing in the streets of a long-gone country, as Iceland meets South America and China – this is the soundtrack to any kind of living person in its most absurd and realistic form. The odyssey is not a pretentious one, it leads you only to everything you know, as your knowledge is always limited to everything you conceive as real or imaginary, and the definition of both – and dream... With old-age keyboards floating on the back of our minds, the voices mumble unintelligible words as the guitars grow into the foreseeable chaos of the end of any given day. There is no illusion to follow, this is a dream as cruel as reality, with roads leading to wrong places, with obstacles around every single bend, and the wind whistling in every direction, assuring you that there is no right path to follow. Banda Sonora Para Um Dia Normal (Soundtrack to an Ordinary Day) and Vida Constante (Constant Life) – a voyage into the subconscious states of the mind, into happiness and melancholy, rage and reason. Mais Um Dia Igual (Another Similar Day) is a review of the day that is about to end, with its ups and downs, in and outs, or the lack of any of them. Muito bom! Som inovador e muito agradável aos meus ouvidos já muito cansados dos repetitivos "hits" pró-comerciais que inundam o mercado nacional e estrangeiro. Não tenho conhecimentos técnicos de musica nem estou ligado ao meio. Por isso só posso dizer: gostei muito! Alguém que aposte neste miúdo!!.

O universo das netlabels é uma àrvore de onde se colhem muito poucos fruitos. Reparem como disse muito poucos, e não nenhuns. Isto porque, de tempos a tempos, surge um projecto que nos cativa realmente. São estes os que fazem com que a existência das netlabels valha a pena. Landfill é, talvez, o primeiro àlbum de uma netlabel que vale a pena, dos que já ouvi este ano. Uma peça complexa, com uma composição caótica, muito ao jeito da música erudita contemporânea, mas com um toque de pós-modernismo. Melancólico mas não deprimente, viajante mas com bastante sobriedade. Um trabalho que vale a pena, que espero encontrar daqui a uns meses à venda, talvez com um artwork mais elaborado que este, demasiado simplista para o conteúdo da obra. Quanto às netlabels, que continuem a lançar discos, de vez em quando há um que vale a pena!.

A TestTube, netlabel nacional de pendor mais experimentalista, acaba de lançar um EP de Landfill, “Banda sonora para um dia normal”, que mostra momentos de muito talento onde a harmonia se cruza com instantes mais derivativos de um rock ambiental conferindo efectivas emoções cinematográficas. É o caso do tema que dá o nome ao EP, “Banda sonora para um dia normal” que durante 23 minutos navega por diversas sonoridades (parece-me que “Banda sonora para um dia normal” é um tema semelhante a “Echoes” dos Pink Floyd onde se agregaram vários temas diferentes) surgindo diversos estados de espírito, mas onde uma melancolia é sempre presente. Daniel Catarino (Landfill) apresenta ainda “Vida constante” (com uma evolução emocional interessante: calma no início e raivosa no final) e “Mais um dia igual” mostrando a sua voz, incrivelmente parecida com a de Manel Cruz, vocalista dos Ornatos violeta, diga-se de passagem. Após 53 lançamentos ecléticos, a TestTube marca mais uma posição com um artista que vai beber no rock algum do seu trabalho e onde, apesar de não ser imediato, este disco é quase de imediata afinidade tal não é a qualidade das melodias apresentadas durante este 43 minutos. A Landfill, por seu lado, é de prestar toda a atenção. A filosofia copy-paste associada a uma grande capacidade criativa e de execução de instrumentos permitiu-lhe construir um EP muito bonito e que, não desdenhando o trabalho da TestTube, mereceria uma edição em “carne e osso”, vulgo, rodela de CD. .

Poucas palavras, para um álbum de extraordinária criatividade. Um trabalho que deixa transparecer uma cultura e talento musical de excepção, que está ao alcance de poucos. É certo que é um álbum nada comercial e que passa ao lado da esmagadora maioria dos habituais ouvintes musicais, mas que sem dúvida alguma merece edição num formato físico de forma a obter a notoriedade que merece! Em resumo, muito bom, consegui-me transportar para uma outra realidade, claramente, a realidade vista num panorama de uma vida normal..
