1 - David Velez - DataTransfer2 - [ EKO netlabel ]
Just listen. download here: http://www.earlabs.org/stor/eko018.zip Read review here: http://www.earlabs.org/release/review.asp?reviewid=781
2 - 20/21 laptop quartet - plays Cardew - Treatise (selected pages) - con-v
Get the Flash Player to see this player.      Composition by Cornelius Cardew, 20th century politicially inclined composer. This is a crisp clear and brilliant performance by four laptopians from Vilnius, Lithuania.
3 - Lasse Marhaug | Nils Henrik Asheim - Grand Mutation - [ Touch Music ]
Very good improvisation between a church organ and a set of oscillators. I;m not used to play music loud and like it. This is an exception!
4 - Marcelle Deschênes - petits Big Bangs - Empreintes Digitales
Get the Flash Player to see this player.      This disk presents work spanning the years 1976 to 2000. Six major works, two of which are thematically connected. Her sonic language is rich (as is the case with most of the ED composers), explosive, harmonic, and at times sensual.
5 - Ester Venrooy - Shift Coordinate Points - [ Entr'acte ]
It's mesmerizing music, although the ingredients are, at first sight, somewhat one-dimensional. Voices always have that effect on people. Venrooy probably picked that up as well and has constructed the material with an able hand.
6 - Formatt - Onontgonnen - Alg-A
Get the Flash Player to see this player.      Formatt is a careful composer from Belgium. His sounds are mostly quiet and subdued. This album is a fantastic mix of ambience and musicality.
7 - Arturas Bumsteinas - Glockenspiel - Alg-A
Get the Flash Player to see this player.      Really, this guy should not need any introduction because all of you ought to know him. Check him out at www.bumstein.com

1 - Ubeboet - Spectra - [ Twenty Hertz ]
     A dream of spiritual smoke-castles.
2 - Aaron Lennox - Heliopause - [ Magnanimous Records ]
Considering my review for this one, it'd be a bit strange where this not way up on my list... ; )
3 - Nobuo Yamada - Echoes of Tokyo Suburbs - [ Art Break Hotel ]
A spectralist take on noise-music, or a noiseheads take on evp...
4 - Klaus Lang - Einfallt. Stille. - [ Editions RZ ]
Formalism and intuition as two sides of the same coin
5 - Joe Frawley - Tangerine - [ Joe Frawley Music ]
Hallucinatory like sparkling bubbles; beautiful like autumn sun...
6 - Son of Earth - Pet - [ Apostasy Recordings ]
The implicit affinities between new weiyrd psych-folk and academic electronics from the 60's find their most assured statement yet in Pet
7 - Christopher McFall - Four Feels For Fire - [ Entr'acte ]
Granulated grit and heat breathed into life with spirit(s) beyond our ken
8 - Helena Gough - With What Remains - [ Entr'acte ]
One of the few albums of 2007 that has remained with me for a whole year (starting from way back with its release in early 2007)
9 - Rytis Mazulis - Form Is Emptiness - [ Megadisc ]
A slendered down version for the 'light'-age (as in coca-cola light) of Ligeti's 'Lux Aeterna'.
10 - Roger Smith & Pascal Marzan - Two Spanish Guitars - [ Emanem ]
An amazing feat of taking out the 'electro' out of 'electroacoustic improv' without anyone ever noticing it...

Larry Johnson [ see this editor's details ]

1 - Asher - The Depths, The Colors, The Objects & The Silence - [ ]
In this series of works Asher constructs subtle shifts in static amidst a sea of decaying loops. This work is wonderfully cinematic.
2 - Juan Jose' Calarco - Piano Vertical - [ ]
Calarco masterfully creates compacted drones amidst an engineered urban soundscape.
3 - David Kirby - Four Pieces - [ ]
This 27 minute composition divulges some beautiful movements that incorporate an intersting array of material ranging from dense layers of textured sound to gentle working using the violin.

Ambient recording constructed from decaying tape loops that are not to be missed.

7 - Sebastien Roux - Revers Ouest* - [ Room40 ]
The piece, by mixing a fragmented story with heavily processed acoustic sources, aims to intricate radio art genres like documentary and hörspiel with more ‘musical’ forms such as electroacoustic and contemporary classical music.

1 - Panda Bear - Person Pitch - [ Paw Tracks ]
Everytime I listen to this it brings a smile to my face. It's such happy music, though in the same time also so sad (lyrically seen). If you want to know how The Beach Boys (pet sounds), Scott Walker and a sampler in a zoo sound like? Check this out.
2 - Xela with Greg Haines & Danny Saul - The 12th Chapel - [ Type Records/RITE ]
Xela has always been interesting me somehow, but with this release he really blew my mind. This is one massive psychedelic trip. I really love this weird stuff.
3 - Erstlaub - On Becoming An Island - Highpoint Lowlife
Get the Flash Player to see this player.      Erstlaub has made on this release some really lovely compositions that I think should be listened by more people.
4 - Wouter van Veldhoven - Ruststukken - [ Slaapwel Records ]
Just read the review, it says enough.
5 - Machinefabriek met Anne Bakker & Greg Haines - Koploop - [ Self-Released ]
One of my favourite Machinefabriek releases. It's a really diverse release with nice additions by Greg Haines and Anne Bakker. Just something else than his guitar drone things he did lately.
6 - Meg Baird - Dear Companion - [ Drag City ]
Cute female folk-singers, that's my weak point. Just lovely songs that keep on spinning in your head about usual things in live, love and death.
7 - Robedoor / Pocahaunted - Hunted Gathering - [ Digitalis Industries ]
Heavy psyched out sounds. Just one big mind trip.
8 - Gultskra Artikler - Kasha Iz Topora - [ Miasmah ]
First time I heard this it didn't grab me, but on further listening this goes deep. Adventurous release with so much to discover.
9 - Helios - Ayres - [ Type Records ]
Sweet melancholic pop music. Guess that's just how I love it the most. Music does not always have to be uneasy-listening, and this is a good example of that.
10 - Paul Duncan - Above the Trees - [ Hometapes ]
Just a beautiful singer/songwriter release. Warm music, like a cup of hot chocolate.
