LM022 Chenard Walcker -
Testez votre chaine hi-fi avec Chenard Walcker

During my excursions around the net (often instigated when I do a walk through the cubicles) I encountered this artist. I listened a bit, was intrigued, e-mailed an invitation and literally within 24 hours received the music that you can download below! Not only did he send me the music, but also nicely fitting artwork!

This is probably the most accessible release of Laboratoire Moderne to date. It's pure plunderphonics but instead of the crazy anarchism of a John Oswald or the activist version of Negativland this music is quite well endurable. You can even present it to your parents. I think it's typically French tongue in cheek. Well done!

Two beautiful audio compositions from John Kannenberg. "untitled" is a thirty-minute piece that slowly builds in intensity before expending its energy and tapering off - gentle static-like sounds and a high-pitched sine wave that gradually evolve into a deep, powerful drone-like hum. "For Spalding Grey" (I'm assuming) is an eighteen-minute sonic tribute to the late thespian and writer who committed suicide earlier in 2004. To me a disturbing piece with lots of textures - parts of it create the illusion of riding on a train. Read a little bit about Spalding Grey at: http://abclocal.go.com/wabc/features/entertainment/wabc_030804_spaldinggrey.html and this compostion will make sense.
