.tilnmk1 and
.tilnrestore

This page aims at disclosing the complete.tiln catalogue. .Tiln existed in two stages. First as a weblabel run by Marc McNulty and later run by aesova.org. Aesova stopped publishing and the original .tiln catalogue sort of hides in the shades. EARLabs wants to restore the complete catalogue just because the music is too good to be forgotten.

The original aesova .tiln catalogue went lost. From October 2005 until January 2006 we have been slowly restoring it. Perhaps some of the items in the catalogue still need to be found. If you have a release available that is not yet released here, please contact EARLabs. Thanks to Carlo Giordani, Mik Prims, Peter Smeekens, Kengo Miyazaki (!!) and Will Soderberg for helping out. Tiln history

FROM THE .tiln SITE (as excavated from the wayback machine of archive.org) :

".tiln was founded in March 2000 by Marc C. McNulty in Rochester, New York, U.S.A. .tiln began as a location where artists could showcase their work in mp3 form. With no budget to work with, the .tiln server started on a cable modem connection and a PC in Marc's flat.

In January 2002, Marc determined that he was no longer able to devote time to .tiln, his time consumed by the Earphone label. In order to keep .tiln from disappearing, the website was acquired by AESOVA, who now host and curate the site. In 2003, .tiln continues releasing new music, and runs on a T3 internet connection.

.tiln exists to bring together artists from around the world who are working with sound as a medium. .tiln aims to provide an outlet for these artists to exhibit their work in a shared space with other artists. .tiln is a living space, with a goal to provide a view into the world of sound art as it is transformed through the work of a wide variety of artists. Work is presented in MP3 format and is available for free download or audio stream.

.tiln, exists as a non-profit entity.

Open, Enjoy, Explore."

Aesova stopped providing this service somewhere in 2003. In 2005 EARLabs starts restoring the catalogue with the help of Marc McNulty and Carlo Giordani. Some of the artists have contributed as well. Philippe Jelli helped restoring the Kim Cascone release. Will Soderberg added the missing pieces of his release in November 2005. Kengo Miyazaki provided some 75 missing compositions in January 2006.
