"I approach the tracks like they’re each little creatures, with their own ways of moving and interacting with the environment around them. Each one is supposed to have a certain personality or feel which is in some way distinct from the others. However, by virtue of them all being grown from the same broad gene pool they feel related to each other, sharing in the environmental pressures from the world around them.

All the tracks on this album were made over the last year and a half or so. They wouldn’t sound anything like they do without constant support on every level from the Mothers Against Noise Collective. We’ve been calling this stuff Dubfunk, but you can call it whatever you like." - Duskky

This album mix is a selection out of my relatively slower attempts at music (<140 bpm) created between 2005 - 2010, with the exception of 'Kontje' which was made in 2002.

Thanks to Renoise (www.renoise.com) for being the perfect medium guiding inspiration and Roglok (www.roglok.net) of upitup (www.upitup.com) fame for producing the artwork!

Big ups and thanks to the re-mixers; Mountain (new Candlestickmaker alias - www.myspace.com/csmfalls), Vivace (www.myspace.com/botb), Charly Linch (www.charlylinch.com) and wAgAwAgA (www.myspace.com/splagawagawaga)!

Some new atmospheric dubtronics and such from Wahn, on a slightly different tangent than before.

"I didn't want to stick to the dark and rough soundscapes of The Secret Tapes (Acroplane ACP059), so I tried to produce something much easier to listen to. It's a kind of tribute to old space theme based video games like the Space Quest saga, Elite or Captain Blood.

A friend of mine told me that the EP was making him think of Western fights like the Ennio Morricone ones. 2 men standing in lonely and dusty plains.

Space Western Opera"

"I first bumped into Icky Sticky through my work on the Amen-talist compilation (as he is one of their crew) and was soon impressed by his original and pretty uncompromising take on Jungle, Dubtronics and Electronica. So, I offered him a release slot here at Acroplane and this is the result" Paul ACP Recs

"The Lazy Burden was made over about four or so days in my dear ma's garage in South London, Bellingham to be precise, edited in my Tokyo apartment a little while after. I don't know when but probably a few years ago now. Its probably going to be the last Koen Park album to be honest, unless I have a massive change of heart and finances! The whole point for the Koen Park project was just to celebrate my heap of junky musical gear and have lots of fun. It's provided that and so much more but unfortunately to fund my labels I have had to sell off that garage full of drums, guitars, keyboards, computers and weird oddities. I no longer have the time to bend my casios either, so these are the sad obvious reasons.

I think this album, more than all the others, is more 'garage', not in genre, but in its creativity. Whilst I spent some time producing the other Koen Park work, this stuff is pretty much first time played drums, guitars, violins, oddities, electronic machines and samplers into my four track fostex tape recorder...then processed into my laptop a wee bit. Limited production at best and I make no apologies for this. That Koen Park was able to let me just rock out a bit, feel free and not worry about recording quality compared to my 'solo' works, I am most thankful for.

Its not about too much I guess, but does point to my laziness, or at least feelings of it. If I do nothing in a day I feel like its a burden of laziness when the truth is probably quite different. Nonetheless this work is inspired by feelings of laziness, staying in bed most of the day, obsessive behaviour, surviving off vitamins and drinking far too much coffee so that I get the shakes, grind my teeth and go back to bed. I'll then go and make music, in this weird, off-kilter state.

Final note is that I asked Ed Cookson to do the artwork. Ed is an insanely talented animator, programmer, musician and artist who runs The Sancho Plan project, more info here: http://www.thesanchoplan.com/ - or for more info about Ed himself: www.edcookson.com - He also happens to be one of my closest truest friends. Years ago I moved back to my hometown, Oxford, living with Ed and making music together with another very close friend of ours, Tom. Over the years, Tom and Ed have taught me a heck of a lot about electronic music and this album, as with all the Koen Park really, is for them. I'd also like to give a special thanks to Paul and the Acroplane crew as they have been huge supporters of this work and run a superb label.

Much love to all. Peace." - Ian Hawgood.

Leading the flocks since 2008, Shepherd brings ewe spiritual guidance in troubled times. The mood is dark, grimy and the landscape desolate. Let Shepherd's hiphop and dubstep endeavors light your path.

The 2nd LP from Berlin's Vertical67. His last album, 'Reflect' remains among the most popular ACPs to this day, but this one certainly tops it, feeling more like a complete album. The themes are similar, at times uplifting and psychedelic, others dark and melancholic, but his production has come on a long way. In our opinion, this LP deserves to rank with the best of 2009, and is certainly among the best Acroplane releases to date.

The 2nd release on Acroplane from Wahn contains some of the most interesting dark soundscapes we've heard this year, and shows a leaning further into wonderfully bassy dubstep territories since 2008's 'Alt.binaries' EP.

A cohesive, distinctive work that exhaustively explores some of electronica's darker realms. We love it.

Includes a great remix by Ebola (Wrong Music/Acroplane)

"About 18 months ago I had a notion to do a track with Warrior Queen, & when I got to London to record the vocal track I ended up in a small studio in Stretham Hill with A bunch of big Jamaican blokes (chuffing heavily) and of course... Warrior Queen.

All was going accordingly until she went out on a call and I was approached by this huge black guy who demanded (politely though) that I record a version of him on the rhythm. Naturally I obliged and in one take he laid down such a perfect vocal that when I got back to Dublin I had to cut a new rhythm for Warrior Queen and keep him on the original...that was Jah Balance.

This was to be my first encounter of many with Balance and his extended crew.

Since that day a strong urge to work with MC's has become a central part of my sound. Having the opportunity to work with talents like Warrior Queen, Jah Balance, Eccleton Jarrett (of Jammy's studios, JA), the insanely talented Lady Grew, MC Quilombola, krakken...and many many more, has manifested in a gruffer bass heavy style (a change from the snare rattled tracks of my yester years).

In this collection I have decided to feature Jah Balance & Eccleton Jarrett exclusively to try to give some insight into the genisis of the last year and a half's work. It's nice for me to be able to show these as it gives some grounding to my recent releases; Crossroads 7" on alphabetset, Proper Horror Show on MMR/Ghetto Quietly, Well Sick (upcoming for !Kaboogie) and some random other tracks that pop up here and there.

And the last three dubs of the originals...well...because I felt like it :)" - Kong

Loom's second album is a childish little bastard.

Just turn on your Fisher Price Cassette-Recorder and let your mind wander to the first time you played with fire. Or when you swiped your little brother's matchbox cars. It's all hidden between the stumbling beats and the squeaky little melodys. And remember: you don't have to like this music, you have to nurture it!

Don't let it cock a snook at you!

The second Isocore solo album is finally out after a long wait. Sugna means dirty, soggy, greasy, fat.

Isocore's aim is to destroy music, destroy tempo, destroy. Strumming over hiphop reminiscent beats, battering keys like a 2 year kid would do to dancefloor anthems, Sugna is an intense experience.....

Isocore is Paolo Elmo, producer and designer born in Rome, Italy 1983. He started to produce beats in 2001. In 2003, together with Pierlo, Jacques Malchance and Tracky Birthday, he founded the label Upitup Records (www.upitup.com) and started his live activity. From then to now he played in the most important clubs in Rome and at other shows around Italy, Germany and the UK, alongside artists like Team Doyobi, Ceephax Acid Crew, Tim Exile, Jason Forrest, Cylob, Milanese and Gescom, to name a few.

From March 2009 he moved to Liverpool, where the album released here saw the light. His music, while preserving a distinctive style, is always shapeshifting from electro beats with deadly detuned synths, to dark ambient rap anthems and musique concrete, always with a ironic touch.

One afternoon, in the waiting room of a needle exchange, I watched afternoon telly and bashed out four new tracks. Individually, in one take, I recorded them live onto tape.

Outside, methadone addicts argued ferociously about hardcore lager and fed a dog raw steak. Inside, an over sensitive monster vented at the imagined scent of a tofu passanda.

Acroplane now present you a small slice of my life, down and around BN1 4GB.

The brothers John and Paul Healy, collectively known throughout the world as Somatic Responses, are still native residents of a small industrial mining community snugly located in the southwest region of Wales. Somatic Responses are into complex dislocated & broken beats, distorted intelligent constructions, fascinating sonic structures, force and sweetness intertwined.

If their early productions were of the hardcore and techno kind, and while they later moved on to breakcore territories, Somatic Responses have now embraced more up-to-date and modern sounds and tackled the current dubstep sound that has taken their native UK by storm, and are ready to out-bass pretty much everybody else.

Mercury is definitely an important release for SR as it displays their progression further into dubstep & it's ever mutating siblings. A shape of things to come AND some of their best material for some time.
