Just a few days ago you could read the review of the album Figure by Tamaru, which was released on Trumn, now we already have the second release by that label. Entropy by the young musician Yui Onodera is a reissue of the long gone limited cdr release by the same title.
Entropy is a collection of 10 tracks shimmering between ambient and drone music. Soft field recordings are combined with soundscapes created with guitars and computers. While listening through the album there is a certain evolution going on. The music is floating through the space slowly fading in and out again. The pieces all share a peaceful organic atmosphere which forms a dreamy landscape of hills in the mist, like on the cover. Not only droney soundscapes are prominent but there is also room for more experimental grainy structures. They add to the mystic atmosphere making the album not too fluffy as a whole. Sounds as slowly moving stones or subaquatic breaking of waves come to mind. Like with most music created by the duo Celer, Entropy fits very well with sleeping; the music lulls you into a sea of tranquillity and bliss. And that is not the only similarity you can find here.
Entropy fits in very well with the other work done by Yui Onodera. Already when he recorded the pieces on this album there was a clear sense of minimalism. While Entropy is used as a gradation for chaos in science, in the music we hear here you could rather say it’s used for the space between the chaos.
This release might not bring something new in the genre of ambient and micromusic, but the eye for composition and detail is a delicacy for the ear, making this nothing more than a very welcome reissue. Which stands in huge contrast with the first release on Trumn. Pure bliss.
